KYC/AML Specialist
We are currently recruiting a KYC/AML Analyst (m/f/x), to enforce our legal department. This person will be based in Bussum as part of our Central Services team. The Central Services team is located in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and the United Kingdom and consists of more than 50 specialists who are responsible for the legal, reporting, accounting, tax, investor relations, technology, HR, ESG and marketing functions of Waterland.
What will be
your impact?
The KYC/AML Analyst will work closely with the Compliance Officer, supporting Waterland with its compliance and regulatory obligations, internal policies, while applying industry best practices. The role will also include assisting with regulatory reporting requirements and keeping internal KYC/AML tools up to date.
Responsibilities will include:
- Conduct initial and ongoing KYC due diligence on investors, counterparties, and portfolio companies, including verification of ownership structures and source of funds.
- Perform risk assessments and apply appropriate risk ratings in accordance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Support Enhanced Due Diligence where needed. Monitor AML/KYC processes and prepare regulatory (AFM/FIU, etc), audit and internal reports.
- Maintain accurate and audit-ready KYC/AML documentation and ensure periodic client profile reviews.
- Stay updated on AML/KYC/CFT regulations and assist in regulatory reporting and audits.
- Support compliance training efforts by preparing sessions, ensuring mandatory training completion, raising internal awareness and developing clear guidance on key regulatory topics such as AML, Wwft, sanctions and market abuse.
- Coordinate compliance and regulatory matters with internal teams and external parties (e.g., regulators, auditors).
- Communicate with clients and third parties to gather documentation and resolve KYC-related queries.

Be your true self:
We are seeking candidates (m/f/x) who can meet the following requirements:
- Bachelor/master’s degree in law or related field.
- 2-5 years of experience within a regulated AIFM, private equity firm, asset manager, financial institution or fiduciary service provider in the Netherlands.
- Understanding of Dutch AML laws (Wwft), EU AML Directives, Market Abuse Regulations, sanctions, PEP, regulatory obligations and expectations under AIFMD.
- Understanding complex corporate/fund structures and investor onboarding requirements within private equity.
- Experience with KYC/AML tools, AML monitoring systems and screening databases.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken); Dutch proficiency.
- High level of discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information.
