Waterland and Chemservice announce strategic partnership to accelerate growth and international expansion

Munich/Worms, 18 August 2025 – Chemservice, a leading regulatory compliance expert for the chemical industry, has entered into a strategic partnership with European private equity firm Waterland. Chemservice founder and CEO Dr. Dieter Drohmann and Doris Peters, Managing Director of subsidiary Consortia Management GmbH and Chemservice Schweiz GmbH, will retain significant minority shareholding and continue to lead the company along the established leadership team.

Together, Chemservice and Waterland will focus on further accelerating the company’s strong growth trajectory by pursuing an ambitious expansion plan both organically -leveraging strong market growth and increasing regulatory requirements across the globe – and through targeted M&A activity in a fragmented market environment. This strategy is specifically designed to serve Chemservice’s long-standing client base more comprehensively and offer a broader service portfolio.

Founded in 2007, Chemservice supports companies around the world with comprehensive expertise in chemical legislation compliance. Operating from locations across Europe, North America and Asia, Chemservice has established itself as a trusted partner for regulatory affairs, renowned for its expertise, reliability, and customer orientation across the globe. It offers its clients services across Regulatory Affairs, Consortia Management, Advocacy and Only Representative.

Waterland as a particularly experienced investor in the field of professional services has a strong track record in people-centric business models in Germany and across Europe, demonstrated by its partnerships with top management consultancy Horn, accounting and advisory platform Moore DRV and SAP integrator Netconomy. The firm has also built deep industry expertise in regulatory compliance through its successful investment in Enhesa and is well-equipped to support Chemservice’s next phase of growth.

Dr. Dieter Drohmann and Doris Peters explain: “After 18 years of continuous growth at Chemservice, we have decided to partner with Waterland Private Equity to further accelerate our expansion and continue to deliver leading regulatory solutions and the highest level of service to our customer. Together with Waterland, we are ideally positioned to expand our services, strengthen our team, and increase our footprint in new and existing markets. Waterland’s industry expertise and resources provide us with a powerful platform to accelerate international growth and further develop our organization.”

Sebastian Kloss, Principal at Waterland, added: “Chemservice has demonstrated an impressive, consistent growth trajectory in a demanding and highly specialized sector. We see significant potential to accelerate Chemservice’s development through both organic initiatives and targeted acquisitions. The company’s platform, client base, and scientific expertise offer outstanding foundations for further expansion. Together, we will drive forward a strategy that ensures continued best-in-class service delivery and unlocks new opportunities for clients, employees, and partners alike.”
