Leading European firms unite to create Auren, an integrated €1 billion pan-European accountancy and consulting group
Antwerp, 7 October 2026 – Six leading accountancy and consulting firms across Europe – Moore Kingston Smith (UK), Moore Ireland, Moore DRV & MKW (the Netherlands), Auren (Spain), INTARIA (Germany) and Moore Belgium – today announced that they are joining forces to create Auren, a new pan-European accountancy and consulting group. Backed by Waterland Private Equity, the combined business exceeds €1 billion in annual revenues and establishes one of Europe’s leading professional services groups focused on entrepreneurs, SMEs and the mid-market.
The group has established a significant presence across six European markets, serving entrepreneurs, SMEs and mid-market companies through audit, accountancy, tax, legal, corporate finance, technology and consulting services.
From 2027, the group’s country firms will begin operating under the Auren brand, reflecting their evolution from a collection of national firms into a more integrated European organisation with shared ambitions, stronger cross-border collaboration and common investment capabilities.
From national firms to a European group
The creation of the Auren group marks an important step in the group’s development. While the firms have increasingly collaborated across borders and developed closer operational and commercial ties, bringing the firms together under a common brand makes that reality visible to clients, employees and future partners. It also provides a stronger platform for developing shared technology, specialist expertise and cross-border services across Europe.
The Auren name, already established through the group’s Spanish business, will become the common identity across the organisation and reinforce the group’s ambition to build one of Europe’s leading professional services groups focused on entrepreneurs, SMEs and the mid-market.
Auren has the ambition to expand beyond its existing six European markets, as well as to continue strengthening its local presence through both acquisitions and organic business development. Auren Group will be an independent member of Moore Global, ensuring the group has a global reach.
Peter Verschelden, Chairman of Auren Group, said: “The launch of Auren is a significant milestone in our evolution. Over recent years, we have brought together outstanding firms across Europe that share a common culture, entrepreneurial mindset and commitment to client service. The new brand reflects what we are increasingly becoming: one international group with strong local roots and growing cross-border capabilities.”
Technology and AI at European scale
The creation of Auren comes as technology and artificial intelligence are reshaping the accounting and advisory profession. Routine and documentation-heavy activities are becoming increasingly automated, while professional judgement, interpretation and trusted client relationships remain critical, particularly across audit, tax and higher-value advisory work.
Operating at European scale will increase the Auren’s potential to invest jointly in secure technology infrastructure, data capabilities, AI governance and new client solutions. Innovations developed successfully in one market can then be adapted and deployed across the wider group rather than recreated independently in each country.
Local relationships at the heart of the model
The group remains firmly focused on the SME and mid-market segment. While larger corporates often possess significant in-house resources and smaller businesses increasingly rely on automation, mid-market companies continue to require sophisticated audit, tax, legal, corporate finance, technology and consulting expertise delivered by trusted local advisers.
The creation of Auren has been supported by Waterland Private Equity, which first invested in Moore Belgium in 2020 as part of its buy-and-build strategy in the European professional services sector. Since then, the group has expanded through partnerships with leading firms in the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, Spain and Germany, completing more than 100 acquisitions across six countries, including 33 in the last two years.
Matthias Geyssens, Partner at Waterland, said: “The creation of Auren is a significant milestone in the execution of our buy-and-build strategy. Over the past six years, we have brought together leading firms across Europe and supported their growth through investment, acquisitions and operational development. Auren demonstrates our belief that clients increasingly need both local expertise and international reach. By combining entrepreneurial, local leadership with the benefits of scale, shared technology and cross-border expertise, Auren is well positioned to support SMEs and mid-market businesses as they grow and become more international.”
