TG Group and Waterland join forces, moving toward a high-tech future

Verrebroek, 29 April 2025 – TG Group, a leading company in the development of packaging machinery, announces a strategic partnership with investment firm Waterland. This marks a new chapter in the company’s remarkable growth story, which began twenty years ago as a one-man operation providing maintenance and service for packaging machines.

Founded in Beveren as a family business under the name TG-Technics, TG Group began its activities in 2006 with maintenance and repair of existing packaging equipment. At the time, founder and managing director Tom Vermonden was still working solo, hands-on with the machines. Over time, the company expanded its services to become an agent and rental provider for packaging machines from well-known manufacturers. Today, TG Group has grown into a designer and manufacturer of internationally recognized, proprietary packaging machines and feeder lines for clients across the globe.
The original Verrebroek site has since been complemented with facilities in Hoogstraten, following acquisitions of Entrec and Frematt in 2022. Today, Waterland Private Equity steps in as partner and co-shareholder to help realize the shared ambitions of sustainable growth, innovation, and long-term success.

The Right Momentum
For TG Group, the timing was ideal to begin a new chapter, explains Tom Vermonden.
“In recent years, we’ve put a lot of energy into strengthening the foundation of our organization – from professionalizing our management structure to investing in digitalization and process automation. We’ve built a solid portfolio of machines and work closely with global partners like IMA, Hartmann, and Rotzinger. Our team of engineers, technicians, administrative staff, and salespeople ranges from fresh talent to seasoned experts, all sharing a deep passion and technical excellence. To continue evolving in what we’ve created together with such care and dedication, this was the perfect moment to bring in a partner to invest in our future.”
That success didn’t go unnoticed.
“We’re incredibly proud of where TG Group stands today – and of every single person who helped us get here,” Tom continues. “In our industry, we’re playing at the top level. We supply equipment to internationally renowned companies. That kind of track record offers both stability and growth potential, which is attractive for a partner like Waterland. At the same time, we were impressed by their reputation as a respectful investor – one that believes in the unique character of companies, in long-term vision, and in building something lasting together.”
TG Group will maintain its course with the same dedicated team, while this new partnership unlocks opportunities to invest in new areas such as production capacity, cutting-edge technologies, and strategic acquisitions, according to the entrepreneur.

Flemish Innovation on the Global Stage
When it comes to innovation, TG Group is leading the European field. With development support from VLAIO (the Flemish Agency for Innovation and Entrepreneurship), the company has established itself as a knowledge-driven enterprise specializing in flow-pack (sealed tube-style packaging) and X-fold (tight-fitting folded packaging). Its latest CM90 model is currently the most advanced X-fold machine on the market. This line is internationally recognized as the go-to solution for packaging round products such as rice cakes and cookies, and is already in use by leading industry players.
Today, more than 95% of TG Group’s revenue comes from export, including to Europe, the United States, Canada, Turkey, Africa, and the Middle East.
According to Tom Vermonden, the future of the packaging industry in Flanders and Belgium is high-tech:
“Every year, we introduce new machine designs, because we are constantly striving to offer answers to our clients’ evolving needs. Developments in this sector move at lightning speed. With Waterland now onboard, we aim to become the global reference for innovation, potential, and ambition in the packaging machinery market. Does Flanders need companies like this? As an entrepreneur, I believe that both Flanders and every business would benefit from this level of ambition and drive.”
