Chemservice and EBRC join forces to create a leading European Regulatory Compliance Specialist for the chemical and adjacent industries

Worms / Hanover, 8 June 2026Chemservice Group, an international provider of regulatory compliance services to the chemical industry and related regulated sectors, has acquired EBRC Consulting GmbH, based in Hanover. EBRC will become a part of Chemservice Group, further strengthening the Group’s capabilities in regulatory compliance, product safety, toxicology, risk assessment, European chemicals regulation and consortia management. The transaction creates one of Europe’s leading specialist providers in this market. The parties have agreed not to disclose the financial terms of the transaction.

This marks Chemservice’s first acquisition since Waterland Private Equity invested in the company in July 2025. Together, Chemservice and Waterland aim to further develop the Group both organically and through acquisitions, and to strengthen its position internationally as a leading scientific and regulatory partner to the chemical industry.

Founded more than 30 years ago, EBRC has established itself as a science-led consulting partner for companies in the chemical industry and related regulated sectors. EBRC supports clients in the assessment and management of regulatory matters, substance evaluations, dossier preparation, risk assessments, and across toxicology, ecotoxicology and product safety. The company has particular expertise in complex testing and evaluation processes for industrial chemicals and metals, plant protection products and biocides, as well as food additives and cosmetics.

Chemservice and EBRC have highly complementary service portfolios and serve similar customer groups. The combination creates a broader and more diversified group with greater scientific expertise, enhanced international reach, and a more comprehensive service offering for customers across the chemical industry. By bringing together complementary capabilities and customer bases, Chemservice Group will significantly strengthen its market position and further establish itself as a leading regulatory compliance partner in Europe.

Continuity is a key priority for EBRC’s customers and employees. The Hanover site will remain in place and the EBRC brand will be maintained. The existing management team will remain closely involved in the company’s ongoing development. At the same time, collaboration within Chemservice Group will be expanded gradually, creating additional development opportunities for employees.

Dr Dieter Drohmann, founder and CEO of Chemservice, commented:
“By joining forces with EBRC, we are welcoming a company to our Group that is an excellent technical fit for Chemservice and enjoys an outstanding reputation in its market. Regulatory requirements are becoming increasingly complex internationally, while demand for integrated, one-stop solutions continues to grow. Together with EBRC, we can selectively expand our service portfolio and provide customers with even more comprehensive support on complex scientific and regulatory matters.”

Dr Rüdiger Battersby, founder and Managing Director of EBRC Consulting, said:
“EBRC has grown over many years through scientific excellence, close customer relationships and a strong commitment to technical rigour. In Chemservice, we have found a partner that shares our values, understands our industry and gives us the opportunity to continue developing EBRC over the long term. Our customers will continue to benefit from the quality they know and trust, while also gaining access to an even broader range of expertise and an international network.”

Since 2025, Waterland has supported Chemservice as a strategic growth partner. Following the acquisition of EBRC, Chemservice will continue to selectively pursue opportunities that complement its capabilities in scientifically demanding and customer-focused areas.
