Waterland invests in Cumbria Waste Group

Waterland has acquired a majority stake in Cumbria Waste Group (“CWG”), the largest provider of waste disposal and recycling services in Cumbria, serving over 5,000 customers across the region.

Waterland plans to invest in the organisation’s infrastructure and operations, helping CWG with its future regional growth plans, creating additional job opportunities and wider economic and environmental benefits.

Ryan Hallworth, Principal at Waterland, said: “We are delighted to be investing in CWG. We have a proven track record of working with key players in the sector to help drive growth. We are excited about CWG’s future and the potential for our partnership to expand operations and contribute to the creation of more local opportunities.”

CWG is comprised of Cumbria Waste Management Ltd, Cumbria Waste Recycling Ltd and Lakeland Waste Management Ltd. and currently employs 280 people at 20 locations across Cumbria.

The deal has no impact on any of the council’s household waste and recycling collections or staff.
